New name, same courses
UNITAR POCI is now the Peace Operations Training Institute. We are pleased to continue to provide all the same training courses on peacekeeping as we have done for the past fifteen years and as was recently welcomed by the United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C34). Here is what you should know:
- We still offer the same courses.
- Your existing enrolments are still valid.
- We are still accepting new enrolments under our new name.
We are working hard to make this a quick and smooth transition. In the meantime, you may continue to see the name “UNITAR POCI” in some places. Thank you for your support.
About the Peace Operations Training Institute and ELPLAC
At the end of 2007, there were more than 102,000 UN peacekeeping personnel representing 119 nations serving in 20 DPKO-led peace operations. If there is to be efficient and coordinated effort among military and civilian components from around the world, personnel of all nations should receive standardised training and preparation.
E-Learning for Peacekeepers from Latin America and the Caribbean (ELPLAC) makes Peace Operations Training Institute distance courses on peacekeeping available free of charge for all military, police, and gendarmerie personnel who are citizens of covered countries. With ELPLAC, eligible students may enrol in courses online, download study materials, view and submit their End-of-Course Examinations, and earn their Certificates of Completion from the Peace Operations Training Institute.
The Peace Operations Training Institute is pleased to welcome you to this distance training programme in peacekeeping. We wish you well in your studies, and we wish you success as you work to bring peace and relief to troubled regions world-wide.
